It all began when Serena, our protagonist's friend, decided to venture into the Sea of Trees, a forest revered by the locals not only for its absence of sunlight and lack of wildlife but also as a place with magical properties. Upon her entry, Serena vanishes not only from sight but also from the minds and memories of the town's inhabitants, as if she never existed in the first place. Except for one individual: Our nameless protagonist.

After giving up hope of receiving external help, our protagonist decides to embark on a journey to discover what happened to his friend. Shortly after entering the forest, he encounters a creature known as The Truther: A powerful demon who feeds on the courage of anyone who dares to enter. Albeit his almost unmatched strength, The Truther has to go by one rule: Everything it says he a lie. That means even when he's telling the truth, he would speak the opposite of what he means to say. This makes it a confusing enemy to defeat.

About me:

My passion for mystery and video games began with I was around 7 when I was first introduced to a game series called Resident Evil. The experience was intense at first given my age at the time but I soon found passion within these games. A couple of years later I stumbled upon another video game series called Silent Hill, and again, I found myself falling in love with the series. I spent the next couple of decades experiencing the gaming world from the eyes of a player rather than a developer. During that time, I found another passion which was East-Asian urban legends. I was also introduced to a game called Deltarune by a student of mine. A 2D game that I grew to love, especially after learning that its developer Toby Fox was also in a similar place as I am today.

About a year ago, I magically found myself learning game development without even realizing it. Not only that, I found myself quite enjoying it! An emotion I have been missing for many, many years.. Long story short, I ended up putting this playable demo together within the span of a few months, surpassing my project plan which you can find a link for as well in the bottom of this entry. It shows where I started, where I am now, and where I play to go with this project in the not-so-far future. Thankfully, I have managed all of that while working as a full-time teacher, which as much of a noble profession that is, I do not quite enjoy doing it nowadays.

There are a few reasons why I'm posting this here. First, I need to gauge people's interest in the idea to find out whether it's even worth doing to begin with. The second reason is the more obvious one: I'm trying to raise enough money to buy time with. Time that'll allow me to work on this project full-time and without having to worry about the elephant in the room we all have: THE BILLS GUY!!

With that being said, I hope that you'll enjoy this demo.
